On the 29 November 2004 the work started on the New Shops, The Village Print Shop and The Village Chippy (a Fast-Food Outlet).

The work will be carried out by NewLife Regeneration Construction Ltd.
a local company who submitted the most competitive tender of the four building contractors biding for the contract.

The new building will occupy the land on the corner of New Scott Street and Main Street Whaley Thorns Derbyshire. On the opposite side of the road to the old Fish and Chip Shop.
